Organic Tissue

This normally falls into two categories – fats and oils from the kitchen and hair from the bathroom. While none of these seem like a big deal at the time, letting them enter your drains on a regular basis can lead to a blockage of a prolonged period. Fortunately, we have the tools to quickly clear them.

Foreign Objects

The most common foreign objects discovered to be blocking drains in the South East are items like baby wipes, make-up wipes, nappies, and sanitary items. Some people have a tendency to flush these items, rather than dispose of them elsewhere. Unfortunately, they don’t break up like toilet paper and soon build up in the system, causing a blocked drain.

Root Invasion

The roots of trees, plants, and weeds possess a strength that you might not expect to look at them. Given time and the right motivation, roots can break through tarmac, ceramics, and even concrete. One such motivation is the ready supply of water in your drain. No wonder they are such a common cause of blocked drains.

Mineral Deposits

Mineral deposits refer to lime and calcium. Common in hard water areas (that is, water with a high mineral content – notably sodium and magnesium), as water passes through the drainage system it leaves small particles behind on the pipes. Over time, these build to a discernible layer that needs to be removed by the professionals at DMS UK Ltd.
